Two people were hurt when an iron rod struck the Taj Express in Haryana

An incident involving a moving passenger train has raised fresh concerns about railway safety after an iron pipe was allegedly thrown at the Taj Express between Palwal and Hodal. The object struck a coach window, shattering the glass and injuring two passengers inside.

According to the Government Railway Police (GRP), the incident took place around 8 am when a metal pipe, approximately 2 to 2.5 feet in length, was hurled at the train while it was in motion. The impact damaged a window in coach D-6, causing shards of glass to scatter inside and injure passengers seated nearby. One of the injured, identified as Rajesh Aggarwal from Faridabad, sustained facial injuries due to the broken glass.

Both injured passengers were provided immediate medical assistance upon the train’s arrival at Mathura Junction. Railway and police authorities ensured that necessary treatment was administered without delay, and their condition is reported to be stable.

Following a complaint lodged by the injured passenger, a case has been registered at the GRP police station in Mathura. Investigators are currently working to identify those responsible for the attack, examining possible motives and reviewing available evidence from the area where the incident occurred.

The episode highlights ongoing vulnerabilities in railway safety, particularly in open track sections where trains remain exposed to external threats. Authorities are expected to intensify surveillance and preventive measures along vulnerable stretches to reduce the risk of similar incidents in the future.
