Video: After the wedding, the families of the bride and groom attack one another

A violent clash broke out between the families of a bride and groom shortly after a wedding ceremony in Vasai, with dramatic visuals of the incident showing people physically attacking each other and hurling plastic chairs during the chaos.

According to reports, tensions began rising soon after the wedding rituals concluded, when an argument allegedly broke out between members of the two families over issues that have not yet been officially disclosed by police.

What reportedly started as a verbal confrontation quickly escalated into a full-scale physical fight, with several men and women from both sides seen pushing, hitting and throwing chairs at one another inside the wedding venue.

Videos from the scene, which later went viral on social media, captured chaotic moments as guests screamed and tried to separate those involved while objects were thrown across the gathering area during the violent confrontation.

Several people allegedly sustained injuries during the clash and were later taken for medical treatment. Officials said some of the injured were receiving care at local hospitals, though the exact number of injured individuals has not yet been officially confirmed.

The matter later took a serious legal turn after both the bride’s and groom’s families approached the police and filed separate complaints against each other regarding the incident and the allegations surrounding it.

According to officials, the groom’s family registered a complaint accusing members of the bride’s side of assault and violent behaviour during the altercation following the wedding ceremony.

The bride’s side, however, filed a more serious counter-complaint under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, commonly known as the POCSO Act, significantly intensifying the legal complications surrounding the dispute.

Police confirmed that cases had been registered based on complaints from both sides and said investigations were currently underway to determine how the violence began and whether additional criminal offences were committed during the incident.

Officials also stated that some individuals linked to the clash had already been detained for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation into the matter.

Investigators are additionally examining the viral live video recordings and mobile footage circulating online to identify those involved in the assault and reconstruct the sequence of events that led to the brawl.

Authorities said further action in the case would depend on witness statements, medical reports, digital evidence and the findings of the ongoing police probe.
