Following a collision and altercation, a Telangana man was carried for two kilometers by the car's bonnet

A road rage incident in Ranga Reddy district has sparked widespread outrage after a man was dragged for nearly two kilometres on the bonnet of a moving car in the Meerpet area, with the driver fleeing the scene after being stopped by bystanders.

The episode began when a car allegedly hit a two-wheeler from behind, leading to a confrontation between the occupants of the bike—identified as Faisal and his father SK Jilani—and the driver. As the argument escalated, Jilani reportedly stood in front of the vehicle to prevent the driver from escaping the spot.

Instead of stopping, the driver accelerated abruptly, forcing Jilani onto the bonnet and continuing to drive along a busy road stretch. Eyewitnesses said the car moved from Balapur Chowrasta towards Mandamallamma Chowrasta while the man clung to the front of the vehicle, as passersby watched in shock. The incident was captured on video, which quickly spread online and intensified public concern.

The situation ended when alert commuters and locals intervened, intercepting the vehicle and bringing it to a halt before further harm could occur. During the chaos, the driver abandoned the car and fled the location.

Faisal sustained injuries during the initial collision and subsequent altercation and was taken to a private hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment. Meanwhile, police have registered a case and launched a search operation to trace the absconding driver.

Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage and analysing the viral video to reconstruct the sequence of events and identify the accused. The incident has raised fresh concerns about reckless driving and the escalation of road disputes into dangerous situations.
