Following the Padma Bhushan honor, PM Modi visits Mammootty and her family

Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared photographs on social media after attending the Padma Awards ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan, congratulating actor Mammootty on being honoured with the Padma Bhushan.

The veteran Malayalam actor was accompanied by his family, including his son Dulquer Salmaan, daughter-in-law Amal Sufiya, daughter Surumi, and wife Sulfath Kutty during the ceremony.

In a post shared on Instagram after the event, PM Modi said he met Mammootty and his family following the Padma ceremony earlier in the day.

The ceremony also saw several other notable personalities being honoured. Playback singer Alka Yagnik was conferred the Padma Bhushan. She was assisted to the stage during the ceremony and later greeted the Prime Minister, even touching his feet in a gesture of respect before receiving the award.

Actor and filmmaker R. Madhavan was among those awarded the Padma Shri and also shared a brief interaction with the Prime Minister during the event.

This year’s Padma Awards included a total of 131 recipients—five Padma Vibhushan, 13 Padma Bhushan, and 113 Padma Shri honours—recognising contributions across various fields.

Mammootty, aged 74, has had a career spanning more than four decades in Indian cinema. He began with a credited role in the Malayalam film Vilkkanundu Swapnangal (1980) and gained prominence with Sandhyakku Virinja Poovu (1983). Over the years, he has worked across Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi films, earning multiple National and Filmfare Awards. He was earlier awarded the Padma Shri in 1998 and remains widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in Indian cinema.
