The daughter of Delhi’s former Transport and Environment Minister and BJP MLA Kailash Gahlot has secured All India Rank 1 in the CUET UG 2026 examination, which saw participation from lakhs of students across the country.
Devina Gehlot, a student of Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj, emerged as the national topper in the Common University Entrance Test for Undergraduate programmes, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
She reportedly expressed surprise at achieving the top rank, saying she had expected a strong performance but not the highest score in the country. She credited her success to the support of her parents, sister, school, and teachers throughout her preparation journey.
Describing her preparation strategy, Devina said she did not rely on excessively long study hours. Instead, she focused on maintaining consistency, taking breaks when needed, and revising regularly. She also highlighted the importance of NCERT textbooks, which she used as her primary study material along with previous years’ question papers.
She advised future aspirants to avoid depending on too many resources and instead focus on building a clear understanding of concepts through NCERT-based study. She also stressed the importance of staying calm during preparation, noting that excessive pressure can affect performance and confidence.
According to her, CUET is increasingly application-based rather than reliant on rote memorisation, making conceptual clarity and regular practice more important than long hours of cramming.
The CUET UG examination saw more than 15.68 lakh registrations, with around 11.64 lakh candidates appearing for the test conducted between May and June by the National Testing Agency. The results, declared on June 23, will be used for admissions to over 280 universities across India, including central, state, deemed, and private institutions.
