Gangster Venkatesh Garg will be sent back to India after being charged with the murder of a BSP leader

Indian authorities are preparing to bring back alleged gangster Venkatesh Garg from the country of Georgia after his detention by local authorities based on intelligence shared by Indian agencies. Garg, who is allegedly associated with the gang led by Kapil Sangwan, is expected to arrive in Delhi on June 11.

According to investigators, Garg is wanted in more than a dozen criminal cases across northern India. These cases reportedly include allegations of murder, extortion, armed robbery, and other serious offences. He has also been named as an accused in the murder of a Bahujan Samaj Party leader in Gurugram.

Authorities allege that after the Gurugram killing, Garg fled India using forged travel documents and established himself in Georgia. From there, he is accused of working with the Nandu gang and continuing criminal operations targeting individuals and businesses in India.

Originally from Narayangarh in Haryana's Ambala district, Garg had been on the radar of Indian law enforcement agencies for years. The Interpol had issued a Red Corner Notice against him, and the Haryana Police had announced a reward of ₹2 lakh for information leading to his arrest.

Investigators claim that Garg used social media and encrypted communication channels to coordinate an international extortion network. Operating from abroad, he allegedly recruited local shooters and associates in Haryana, Delhi, and Rajasthan to carry out contract killings, intimidation, and extortion activities.

His arrest reportedly took place in November 2025 following cooperation between Indian security agencies, Georgian authorities, and international law enforcement partners. A special Indian team was subsequently tasked with completing the legal procedures required for his return.

Officials view Garg's extradition as a significant development in India's efforts to dismantle criminal networks that continue to operate from overseas locations while directing activities within the country. Upon arrival in India, he is expected to face questioning and legal proceedings related to the various cases registered against him.
