Ikka trailer: Akshaye Khanna and Sunny Deol in a fresh Ram-Raavan fight for justice

The trailer for director Siddharth P. Malhotra’s upcoming courtroom drama Ikka, starring Sunny Deol and Akshaye Khanna, was unveiled on June 29. The film delves into themes of justice, morality, truth, and ethics, with Khanna’s character drawing parallels between the legal battle and the legendary conflict between Ram and Raavan.

Set against the backdrop of a high-profile legal case, Ikka follows Arjun Mehra, played by Sunny Deol, a principled lawyer known for standing up for what is right. He firmly believes that the courtroom is not a place to chase victories, but to fight for justice. However, his convictions are tested when he is tasked with defending Shauryamann Gaur, portrayed by Akshaye Khanna, in an attempted murder case that attracts widespread attention. As the case unfolds, it begins to challenge Arjun’s beliefs, relationships, and personal life.

Tillotama Shome stars as public prosecutor Madhura Banerjee, whose pursuit of justice places her in direct opposition to Arjun. Dia Mirza plays Avantika, Arjun’s wife, who struggles to protect her family as the legal battle starts affecting their lives. The trailer teases intense courtroom confrontations, emotional turmoil, and shifting loyalties. It concludes with Shauryamann remarking that despite everything, the world still sees Arjun as Ram and him as Raavan.

Speaking about his role, Sunny Deol said that Ikka is much more than a courtroom drama. According to him, the film explores family, relationships, and the difficult decisions people are forced to make. He added that Arjun’s internal conflict, pain, anger, and unwavering commitment to his beliefs were what attracted him to the character. Deol also noted that the project is particularly special because it marks his first direct-to-streaming release, allowing audiences across India and around the world to watch the film through Netflix.

Although Akshaye Khanna did not attend the trailer launch, he shared a voice message for fans and the media. In a playful note, he said that some meetings cannot happen on stage because they might create an upheaval, adding that audiences would instead meet both him and Ikka on Netflix when the film premieres on July 10.

Ikka is scheduled to release on Netflix on July 10.
