Rajkummar Rao is commended by Ujjwal Nikam for making his story come to life in Prahaar

Rajya Sabha MP and public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam has praised actor Rajkummar Rao for his portrayal of him in the upcoming biographical film Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam. Ahead of its release, Nikam said the actor has depicted his journey with sincerity and emotional depth, and also appreciated director Avinash Arun for presenting an authentic narrative of his professional as well as personal life.

The film focuses on Nikam’s role in high-profile legal cases, including the prosecution of Ajmal Kasab, the lone terrorist captured alive after the 2008 Mumbai attacks. Reflecting on the film, Nikam said Rajkummar Rao has delivered a strong performance and credited the director for creating a balanced portrayal that extends beyond courtroom proceedings.

Nikam said the film captures aspects of his life that are often not seen by the public, including the personal challenges behind major cases. He noted that while verdicts are widely remembered, the emotional strain and pressure experienced during such trials are rarely acknowledged.

He also spoke about handling landmark cases such as the 1993 Mumbai blasts and the 26/11 attacks, saying that the responsibility often came with a sense of isolation, which the film portrays honestly.

Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam also features Wamiqa Gabbi, Sikandar Kher, and Jaideep Ahlawat, and is directed by Avinash Arun with production by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films. The film is set for theatrical release on August 7.
