CUET UG 2026 results have been announced, marking the beginning of undergraduate admissions across more than 280 central and participating universities and institutions for the 2026–27 academic year.
This year, over 11 lakh students appeared for the Common University Entrance Test, which serves as a major gateway to undergraduate admissions in India.
Devina Gehlot has secured All India Rank (AIR) 1 in the exam. She is the daughter of BJP MLA and former Delhi minister Kailash Gehlot.
According to data from the National Testing Agency (NTA), only one candidate achieved a 100 percentile in four out of five subjects. In addition, 22 candidates scored 100 percentile in three subjects, 180 in two subjects, and 3,214 in one subject.
Last year showed a similar trend, with thousands of students securing 100 percentile in at least one subject and fewer achieving top scores across multiple subjects. In earlier editions of CUET, some candidates also recorded multiple perfect percentile scores across several subjects.
The exam structure allows students to choose different subject combinations depending on their academic background and intended university programmes. Because of this flexibility, candidates do not all sit for a single common paper, which raises questions about how meaningful an overall “All India Rank” is in the CUET system compared to exams like JEE or NEET.
CUET scores are used for admission to undergraduate courses, but final selection depends on individual university cut-offs and subject requirements, making rank alone less decisive.
The CUET UG 2026 exam was conducted in computer-based mode, with multiple subjects available for selection, and some sections were rescheduled after technical issues caused cancellations in late May.
In total, over 15.6 lakh candidates registered, while around 11.6 lakh appeared. Participation included students across gender categories and reservation groups, with English and Hindi being the most commonly chosen mediums.
The NTA stated that results were prepared using final answer keys reviewed by subject experts and will now be shared with universities for the next stage of admissions.
