According to the Jordanian statement, another Indian citizen and a Jordanian national were injured, while the second person killed was a Pakistani citizen. The incident occurred on Sweihan Street in Abu Dhabi after air defence systems successfully intercepted a ballistic missile. Local authorities said emergency teams responded immediately to the scene following the fall of debris.
The UAE has faced repeated attacks involving Iranian drones and missiles since the escalation of the conflict between Iran and the alliance of Israel and the United States. Several locations across the country, including key energy infrastructure, have been targeted during the ongoing hostilities.
With the latest incident, the number of war-related deaths reported in the UAE has risen to 11, according to local media reports. Earlier fatalities included three members of the UAE armed forces, while six civilians from Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh and Palestine were also among those killed.
The UAE Ministry of Defence stated on Wednesday that since the beginning of the Iranian attacks, the country’s air defence systems had intercepted 357 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles and 1,815 unmanned aerial vehicles. The ministry also reported that 166 people had been injured during the same period, with injuries ranging from minor to severe.
Those injured include citizens of the UAE as well as nationals from several countries, including Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Iran, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Yemen, Uganda, Eritrea, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Comoros, Türkiye, Iraq, Nepal, Nigeria, Oman, Jordan, Palestine, Ghana, Indonesia, Sweden and Tunisia.
