Amid the ongoing flood crisis in Assam, Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan has contributed Rs 1 crore to the state's Chief Minister's Relief Fund to support relief and rehabilitation efforts. The Chief Minister's Office confirmed the donation and thanked the actor for his generous contribution.
In a post on X, the Chief Minister's Office said it was grateful to Kartik Aaryan for donating Rs 1 crore to the relief fund, adding that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma appreciated the actor's timely support towards the state's flood relief initiatives.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also thanked Kartik through his personal X account, saying the contribution would go a long way in helping the people affected by the floods in Assam.
Earlier, actor Salman Khan had also extended support to flood-hit communities through his charitable organisation, Being Human. In collaboration with the Salman Khan Fan Club (SKFC) Assam, relief efforts were launched in several of the state's worst-affected areas.
According to the latest government bulletin, the death toll from this year's floods in Assam rose to 78 on Wednesday, July 29, after three more people lost their lives in Sivasagar and Golaghat districts.
The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) said the latest fatalities included two deaths in Sivasagar and one in Golaghat, taking the total number of flood-related deaths in the state this year to 78.
The bulletin also stated that 3,00,031 people across seven districts—Sivasagar, Charaideo, Golaghat, Jorhat, Nagaon, Biswanath and Kamrup Metropolitan—continue to be affected by the floods.
Floodwaters remain spread across 21 revenue circles and 551 villages, while 21,523.08 hectares of agricultural land are still submerged.
