Released on July 30, the trailer offered the first extended glimpse of Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Maa Sita and Yash as Raavan.
Sai Pallavi's portrayal divides opinion
Shortly after the trailer's release, an X user shared a clip featuring Sai Pallavi as Sita alongside Rakul Preet Singh as Surpanakha, comparing their appearances.
The user remarked that Ramayana appeared to suggest Rakul Preet looked more beautiful than Sai Pallavi, despite being cast as Surpanakha.
The post drew widespread criticism from Sai Pallavi's supporters, who argued that the comparison ignored the context of the characters within the Ramayana.
One user pointed out that Surpanakha is described as a shape-shifting demoness in the epic, making such comparisons irrelevant.
Another shared an image of Sai Pallavi from the film and praised her appearance as Maa Sita.
Several others argued that Sai brings qualities essential to the character beyond conventional notions of beauty.
