A Haryanvi song has become part of Spider-Man's promotional campaign. Ahead of the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Sony Pictures Entertainment India has released a new promotional video featuring indie duo Banjaare's emotional track, Barsaat, highlighting Peter Parker's heartbreak after MJ forgets him following the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Unlike the upbeat Spider-Man anthem released earlier, the new promo focuses on the emotional consequences of Peter Parker's greatest sacrifice. With MJ, played by Zendaya, no longer remembering him, Peter is left coping with the pain of losing the person he loves while continuing his responsibilities as Spider-Man.
The film's trailers have already suggested that Spider-Man: Brand New Day will explore both Peter's next superhero mission and his struggle to move forward from a life that only he remembers. Barsaat complements that storyline by portraying Peter's loneliness and longing through an emotional ballad.
The song has been composed and performed by indie duo Banjaare, known for their hit track Bairan. Band members Sumit and Anuj said the song was inspired by their own experiences with heartbreak, making Peter Parker's emotional journey feel deeply relatable.
"Barsaat is incredibly close to our hearts. We wrote it during a phase when we were navigating our own heartbreak and personal struggles. Every song we create carries a story, and love has always been at the core of our music. Barsaat came to life naturally while we were jamming together one monsoon evening, which is also how it got its name," the duo said.
They added that after watching the trailer of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, they immediately connected the song with Peter Parker's story.
"When we saw Peter Parker trying to come to terms with the love of his life no longer remembering him, we instantly found echoes of Barsaat in his journey. We are happy to see that Haryanvi music is not just local and that this collaboration is helping it reach a global audience," they said.
The musicians also spoke about their admiration for the Spider-Man franchise and its music.
"Ever since Spider-Man: Homecoming, the music of the franchise has stood out for us. We remember analysing the background score after watching the film in 2017. While Tom Holland's Spider-Man is our favourite superhero, Michael Giacchino is our favourite musical superhero in the franchise," they said.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will release in India on July 30 in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
