After months of memorable performances, emotional highs and intense competition, Indian Idol Season 16 has crowned Odisha's Jyotirmayee Nayak as its winner.
Jyotirmayee clinched the title on Sunday after outperforming fellow finalists Anshika Chonkar, Manraj Veer Singh, Myscmme Bosu, Suhail Sufi and Tanishk Shukla. Along with the trophy, she received prize money of Rs 20 lakh.
Throughout the season, Jyotirmayee impressed both judges and audiences with her consistency. Among her standout performances was O Jab Tak Hai Jaan Jaane Jahan Main Nachungi, which earned a standing ovation from veteran actor Hema Malini. Her rendition of Jaane Kyun Log Mohabbat Kiya Karte Hain also deeply moved Leena Chandavarkar, who said she would love to hear the classic song in Jyotirmayee's voice again.
Beyond the reality show, Jyotirmayee had already established herself in the Odia music industry and has also been involved in music therapy initiatives for cancer patients.
Reacting to her victory, she described the moment as surreal.
"Winning Indian Idol Season 16 feels absolutely surreal. From walking into the auditions with nothing but a dream to standing here as the winner, this journey has truly been life-changing. Every performance challenged me to become a better singer, performer and person, and I'll always cherish everything I've learnt along the way," she said.
Expressing gratitude to the channel, production team and judges, Jyotirmayee added that the trophy belonged to everyone who had supported her throughout the journey.
"This trophy is not just mine but belongs to everyone who stood by me and made this dream possible. I hope to continue making music that touches hearts, keeps me learning and makes everyone proud," she said.
The grand finale featured judges Shreya Ghoshal and Badshah, while Usha Uthup, Udit Narayan, Papon, Kumar Sanu, Shehnaaz Gill and Urmila Matondkar made special appearances, joining the celebrations with performances and interactions.
