Actor Ranbir Kapoor has dismissed long-running speculation linking him to Dhoom 4, confirming that he is not part of the much-rumoured sequel.
Speaking during the promotion of Ramayana at San Diego Comic-Con, the 43-year-old actor said his current lineup includes only Ramayana and Love & War, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
Ranbir attended the event alongside director Nitesh Tiwari, producer Namit Malhotra, and co-star Yash. During an interaction, the host mentioned that while Yash would appear in Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups in addition to Ramayana, Ranbir was set to headline Dhoom 4. The actor immediately dismissed the claim.
"No, right now I am working on Ramayana and another film called Love & War, which is directed by Mr Sanjay Bhansali. That should be out on 24th of January next year," Ranbir said.
Interestingly, the makers have officially announced January 21 as the release date for Love & War. Ranbir also made no mention of Animal Park, the sequel to his 2023 hit Animal, while discussing his upcoming projects.
Dhoom 4 rumours continue
Speculation about Ranbir leading the next chapter of the Dhoom franchise has persisted for years. In 2025, a source told India Today that the actor was expected to begin work on the film after completing his existing commitments, with the production team reportedly searching for two female leads and an antagonist, potentially from the South Indian film industry.
The rumours gained further momentum after celebrity hairstylist Aalim Hakim unveiled Ranbir's new look, prompting fans to speculate that it was for either Dhoom 4 or Animal Park. Reports last year also suggested that Vicky Kaushal was being considered for a major role in the film. However, Yash Raj Films has yet to officially announce the project.
The Dhoom franchise debuted in 2004 with Abhishek Bachchan as ACP Jai Dixit, Uday Chopra as Ali, and John Abraham as the antagonist Kabir Sharma, alongside Esha Deol and Rimi Sen.
The 2006 sequel, Dhoom 2, featured Hrithik Roshan as master thief Aryan Singhania and Aishwarya Rai as Sunheri, while Dhoom 3 (2013) starred Aamir Khan in a dual role opposite Katrina Kaif.
Although speculation surrounding a fourth installment has continued for years, Ranbir Kapoor's latest remarks make it clear that he is not currently associated with Dhoom 4.
