Amid speculation that Salman Khan's Maatrubhumi had been delayed, the makers have put the rumours to rest with the release of a new poster confirming that the film is still slated to arrive in 2026. The update has come as a relief to fans who had been waiting for clarity on the project's release. However, one aspect of the poster has sparked curiosity—it does not credit director Apoorva Lakhia, instead carrying only the line, "A Film By Salman Khan Films."
The latest poster follows reports suggesting that the film's release had been pushed to 2027 after the Ministry of Defence reportedly raised concerns over certain portions of the movie, including references to China. While the makers have not commented on these claims, the fresh promotional material indicates that the project remains on schedule.
Earlier this year, in April, Salman Khan unveiled the film's revised title. Initially announced as Battle of Galwan, the war drama was renamed Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace, with the actor sharing the updated title and first-look poster on Instagram.
The first-look artwork featured Salman Khan emerging from behind a blood-stained boulder wrapped in barbed wire, offering a glimpse of the film's intense wartime setting.
Inspired by the June 15, 2020, Galwan Valley clash, Maatrubhumi tells the story of one of the most significant military confrontations between Indian and Chinese troops along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), in which 20 Indian soldiers lost their lives.
Salman Khan portrays Colonel B. Santosh Babu, the commanding officer of the 16 Bihar Regiment, who led his troops during the Galwan conflict. The film also stars Chitrangda Singh, Abhilash Chaudhary, and Ankur Bhatia in key roles, while the music has been composed by Himesh Reshammiya.
