Prior to release, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 9 and Ultra 2 were leaked; significant chip and battery improvements are anticipated

Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked event is less than two weeks away, and ahead of the July 22 launch, the hardware specifications of the Galaxy Watch 9 series and the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 have reportedly surfaced online. The leak suggests two major hardware upgrades—a new processor and larger batteries—aligning with Samsung's own teasers ahead of the event.

Samsung has already confirmed that the Galaxy Watch 9 series and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 will be AI-powered health companion devices featuring upgraded internal hardware, including a new processor and longer-lasting battery life. Ahead of the official unveiling, WinFuture has published what it claims are the complete technical specifications of the upcoming smartwatches.

New Qualcomm chipset

According to the leak, Samsung is replacing its in-house Exynos processors with Qualcomm's Snapdragon Wear Elite (SW6100).

The chipset is reportedly built on a 3nm process and features a five-core CPU, comprising one high-performance core clocked at 2.1GHz and four efficiency cores running at up to 1.95GHz. The transition to Qualcomm is expected to deliver improvements in both performance and power efficiency.

Depending on the model, the watches are expected to offer 2GB of RAM along with either 32GB or 64GB of internal storage.

In terms of connectivity, all variants are said to support Bluetooth 6.0, NFC and dual-band Wi-Fi, while LTE connectivity will be available on select models. The devices are also expected to run Wear OS with Samsung's One UI Watch 9.0 interface.

Battery upgrades

Battery improvements appear to vary across the lineup.

The 40mm Galaxy Watch 9 is expected to retain the same 325mAh battery found in its predecessor.

The larger 44mm Galaxy Watch 9 is tipped to receive a slight increase, with a 445mAh battery replacing the previous 435mAh unit.

The biggest upgrade is expected on the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. According to the leak, Samsung will increase the battery capacity from 590mAh on the original Galaxy Watch Ultra to 800mAh, a substantial improvement that could deliver significantly longer battery life.

The Ultra 2 is also expected to retain its titanium case and offer water resistance of up to 100 metres, while the standard Galaxy Watch 9 models will reportedly feature aluminium cases with a 5 ATM water-resistance rating.

Expected pricing

The Galaxy Watch 9 is tipped to start at €409 (approximately Rs 45,100) for the base model, while the larger variant is expected to cost €439 (around Rs 48,400).

The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is reportedly expected to be priced at €749 (approximately Rs 82,500).

Samsung is expected to officially unveil the Galaxy Watch 9 series and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 at its Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22.
