At the BJP headquarters, PM Modi meets Nitin Nabin's new national team

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the BJP’s newly appointed national office-bearers at the party headquarters in New Delhi on Saturday, marking their first interaction since party president Nitin Nabin announced the 65-member organisational team on August 17.

After the meeting, Modi said organisational discussions were focused on bringing in new ideas and perspectives to strengthen the party and improve its connection with the public.

The reshuffle included several prominent appointments, including former Union minister Smriti Irani and RSS national executive member Ram Madhav, both of whom returned to important organisational positions.

Earlier, Nabin chaired a meeting with the new office-bearers to discuss organisational priorities, upcoming Assembly elections, grassroots mobilisation and ways to communicate government initiatives.

BJP to focus on ‘Yuva Samvad’

Nabin has asked the new office-bearers to prioritise “Yuva Samvad”, aimed at maintaining continuous engagement with young people.

According to sources, the BJP is preparing major youth outreach programmes targeting people aged 14 and above, particularly those belonging to Gen Z and Gen Alpha.

The party is forming dedicated teams of senior leaders from across the country for the initiative, with the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha expected to assist in their formation and mobilisation. Former national office-bearers will also reportedly participate in the campaign.

Focus on upcoming elections

The BJP’s organisational discussions also covered preparations for upcoming Assembly elections and efforts to strengthen the party’s grassroots network.

Nabin is scheduled to chair another review meeting on Sunday at the BJP headquarters extension. State BJP presidents, organisational general secretaries and state in-charges will participate.

The meeting will review preparations for elections in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Punjab, along with other states going to the polls. Party programmes and broader organisational matters will also be discussed.

BJP passes resolution on Vande Mataram

The BJP also adopted a resolution criticising the Congress Working Committee’s decision to sing only the first two stanzas of Vande Mataram at party events.

The BJP said it would not accept what it described as a compromise with the national song’s honour and legacy for political or electoral considerations.

Nitin Nabin argued that the political compromise reached in 1937 should not take precedence over the constitutional settlement of 1950 and legislation passed by Parliament in 2026.

Parliament passed the Prevention of Insults to National Honour (Amendment) Act, 2026, on July 30, giving Vande Mataram the same legal status as the national anthem, Jana Gana Mana.

The BJP’s next organisational review on Sunday is expected to provide further details on its election strategy and youth outreach plans.
