Yash is now regarded as one of Indian cinema’s biggest stars, but his path to stardom began far removed from the glitz and glamour of the film world. Before establishing himself as an actor, he even ran a provision store.
Born Naveen Gowda, the actor spoke about his humble beginnings during a recent appearance on Aap Ki Adalat. The 40-year-old recalled when he first became aware of the financial differences between his family and his college peers. He said he never noticed such differences during school, but his perspective changed after entering college.
“Until school life, I never felt any difference between other kids and myself in terms of status or money. It was when I started going to college that I started to see the difference. Everybody in the college had their own bikes and cars. They had good clothes to wear. All I had was my father’s old scooter,” he recalled.
Yash also revealed that he had started a provision store to help support his family. He admitted feeling embarrassed about using his father’s old scooter, especially when he had to travel to stock the shop. He said he developed an inferiority complex and often worried that his friends might see him in that situation.
He also reflected on his parents’ financial circumstances, saying they were unable to create assets for the family but gave him something far more meaningful through their sacrifices, values and constant support.
“My parents could never build any assets for us, but the sacrifices they made to teach us life values I am grateful for that. They always believed in me and gave me everything I needed,” he said.
Meanwhile, Yash is preparing for the release of his upcoming film Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups. The film, which also features Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi and Tara Sutaria, is scheduled to release in theatres on August 26. The actor will also be seen in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Part One.
