Samay Raina is known for making people uncomfortable on India’s Got Latent, where contestants, celebrities and panellists routinely become targets of his humour. But in the latest episode, the comedian found himself on the receiving end when Arunachal Pradesh-based influencer Chello Meme unintentionally turned the tables on him.
Chello appeared on the show alongside Orry, Archana Puran Singh, Nishant Suri and Sharon Verma. During her interaction with Samay, she repeatedly roasted him with seemingly straightforward answers, making for an unusual reversal of roles.
‘They say nothing about you’
Samay asked Chello what people in Arunachal Pradesh thought about him. Her response was blunt: “Nothing.”
When he seemed surprised, Chello clarified that she was not trying to insult him and was simply being honest. Even after Samay pressed her on whether people in the state really had nothing to say about him, she stood by her answer.
The exchange became even more amusing when Samay compared himself with Orry. When Orry asked what people in Arunachal Pradesh thought of him, Chello said they mostly knew him for taking photographs with celebrities and wondered what he actually did.
Orry then joked that people at least knew who he was. Samay, meanwhile, said he would take his stand-up show to Arunachal Pradesh and sell it out.
Chello quickly responded: “I just don't know if they'll get your jokes over there.”
‘I was just telling the truth’
Samay later asked Chello to say something positive about him. She acknowledged that he makes people laugh, but did not go as far as declaring him a good person.
When Samay accused her of roasting him, Chello insisted that there was no deliberate attempt behind her comments.
“I didn't mean to roast you just for the heck of it. I was just telling the truth,” she said.
She also declined Samay’s request to roast Nishant Suri, explaining that she only made such comments about people who deserved them. By then, Samay had accepted that he had finally experienced what it was like to be on the other side of the joke.
Samay’s five-point calculation
Chello’s appearance ultimately ended on a winning note. Nishant Suri and the other panellists gave her 10 points, while Samay gave her five.
The seemingly low score was actually strategic. Samay had predicted that Chello would give herself nine points. By awarding her five while the other four panellists gave her 10, he brought her average to exactly nine, helping her match her prediction and win.
Chello walked away with Rs 1 lakh, two AI+ Nova 2 Pro phones and 50,000 coins on the District app.
The jokes clearly did not create any hard feelings. In a video shared by Ayushmann Sethi, Archana Puran Singh’s son, Samay could be heard praising Chello, saying: “I have never been roasted like this before. She killed it.”
Who is Chello Meme?
Chello Meme, an influencer from Arunachal Pradesh, first gained attention in 2021 after sharing a video alleging that a man had repeatedly touched her inappropriately at a bus terminal in Guwahati. At the time, she was travelling to New Delhi to represent Arunachal Pradesh at the National Youth Parliament.
