Actor Shalini Pandey has raised concerns over a fake AI-generated video featuring her that is being circulated online. Describing the clip as “completely fabricated”, the actor said it does not depict her and appealed to people not to share, download or engage with it. She also condemned the misuse of artificial intelligence to target and harass women.
The Jayeshbhai Jordaar actor addressed the issue through a note on Instagram, making it clear that she had no association with the video.
“I want to address a fake AI-generated video of me that is currently being circulated online. The video is completely fabricated and does not depict me. It is deeply disturbing to see technology being misused in this way to target and harm individuals, especially women,” she wrote.
Shalini further urged users who encounter the clip to report it rather than contribute to its circulation.
“I strongly condemn this kind of abuse and believe this kind of misuse of technology should never be normalised. If you come across this video, please do not share, forward, download, or engage with it. Instead, please report it immediately,” she said, while asking people to act responsibly and help prevent the content from reaching a wider audience.
Shalini is the latest Indian celebrity to speak against the growing misuse of AI and deepfake technology. Several well-known personalities, including Rashmika Mandanna, Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, Aamir Khan, Ranveer Singh and Sachin Tendulkar, have previously been targeted by manipulated or deepfake content.
Earlier this month, Mrunal Thakur also spoke about the misuse of her likeness after fake material featuring her surfaced online. She described the creation and circulation of such content as “illegal and unacceptable” and warned that legal action could follow against those responsible.
Shalini began her acting career with the 2017 Telugu blockbuster Arjun Reddy, starring alongside Vijay Deverakonda. She subsequently appeared in films such as Mahanati, Jayeshbhai Jordaar and Maharaj. Her Hindi film debut came with Jayeshbhai Jordaar, and she has since featured in projects including Netflix’s Maharaj and Dabba Cartel, as well as the Tamil film Idly Kadai.
