The EPFO has launched the Employees’ Enrolment Campaign 2026 to help employers bring eligible workers who were previously left out of the provident fund system into formal social security coverage.
The scheme started on June 29, 2026, and covers eligible employees who should have received EPF coverage between April 1, 2009 and March 31, 2026.
DEADLINE TO ENROL
Employers can use the scheme until October 31, 2026.
However, workers can be enrolled only if they are alive and still working for the establishment when the employer makes the declaration.
RELIEF FOR EMPLOYERS
The campaign offers some relaxations to encourage companies to correct old compliance gaps.
One major relief is that, under the scheme's conditions, the employee's share of past contributions may be waived if it was not deducted earlier.
HOW TO ENROL
The process is online. Employers need to:
Identify eligible employees from their employment and salary records.
Generate a UAN using face authentication through the UMANG app.
Deposit the required statutory contributions through the ECR system.
BENEFITS FOR WORKERS
Workers brought under EPF coverage can gain access to provident fund, pension and insurance-related social security benefits.
The campaign also gives employers an opportunity to correct historical omissions and regularise their records.
EPFO is conducting awareness programmes for employers, workers, contractors and other stakeholders to explain the scheme.
In short: eligible workers who were missed from EPF coverage between 2009 and 2026 can potentially be enrolled, but employers must complete the process by October 31, 2026. Checking old employee and wage records early would be the useful first step.
