Following the viral Rs 370 biryani controversy, Pranit More becomes emotional during his first live performance

A video from stand-up comedian Pranit More's recent live performance has gone viral across social media, drawing widespread attention after it showed him addressing the controversy surrounding him and becoming emotional while speaking to the audience.

The clip is claimed to be from his show in Georgia on June 14, 2026. During the performance, More spoke about the recent events, thanked those who continued to support him, and expressed gratitude to the audience for standing by him during a difficult period.

Reflecting on the experience, he said, "Jab main stage pe aaya to mujhe laga ki kya ye log mujhe accept karenge. Mujhe bohot hi accha laga ki tum log bohot supportive the jo bhi cheezein huin uske baad bhi (When I came on stage, I wondered whether people would still accept me. It felt really good that all of you remained so supportive despite everything that happened). So, thanks a lot."

As he fought back tears, members of the audience responded with chants of "Jai Maharashtra!" and "We love you," applauding the comedian.

More added, "Itni saari cheezein ho gayin. Dekho maine standup chalu hi isliye nahi kiya tha ki paise aayenge ya famous hone ke liye. Main jo job karta tha uske baad main standup me aaya kyunki isse mujhe khushi milti hai. Aur humesha point ye tha ki baaki logo ko bhi khushi mile. Aur ye jab nahi hota to thoda bura to lagta hai (A lot has happened. I never started stand-up to earn money or become famous. I left my job and entered stand-up because it made me happy. The goal was always to make others happy too. So when that doesn't happen, it does hurt)."

Recalling advice from his mother, More said, "Meri mummy ne mujhe ek hi cheez boli ki 'Tune galti ki aur sorry bol diya. Tere behaviour se dikh jaega'. Main bola 'Agar unhe nahi pasand aaya to'. Mummy ne bola 'Galti to sabhi karte hain. Tum me se aisa koi jisne kabhi galti nahi ki hai. To fir main ye nahin karunga bhai' (My mother told me, 'You made a mistake and apologised. Your behaviour will show that.' I asked her, 'What if people still don't like me?' She replied, 'Everyone makes mistakes. Is there anyone here who has never made one?' So I decided I wouldn't give up)."

He became emotional once again while thanking the audience, saying, "So thanks a lot mujhe fir se chance dene ke liye. Bohot show kiye hain maine. Ye show aur tum log mujhe humesha yaad rahoge (Thank you so much for giving me another chance. I've performed many shows, but I'll always remember this one and all of you)."

The controversy surrounding More began after a crowd-work clip from one of his performances went viral. In the video, an audience member narrated an incident involving a woman after buying her biryani worth Rs 370 and made remarks suggesting a sense of entitlement over her.

The exchange drew widespread criticism, with many accusing the performance of trivialising issues of misogyny and consent after More did not immediately shut down the comments and instead continued the interaction.

The fallout was significant. The audience member reportedly lost his job, the National Commission for Women (NCW) took cognisance of the matter, and multiple FIRs were registered. More later issued a public apology, acknowledging that he had made a serious error in judgment by allowing the remarks to continue during the show.
