Actor Tabu has introduced her character Gauri Hegde from Puri Jagannadh’s upcoming film Slum Dog: 33 Temple Road, where she stars alongside Vijay Sethupathi. The first-look video presents Gauri as a bold and fearless Income Tax officer who refuses to back down from anyone.
In the video shared on social media, the 54-year-old actor showcases a commanding screen presence as the no-nonsense officer. Tabu also spoke about her experience of delivering dialogues in the Hyderabadi dialect, which she described as an enjoyable part of playing the character.
“Introducing you all GAURI HEGDE,” Tabu wrote while sharing the clip. She described Gauri as “fierce, fearless and always ready to stand her ground” and added that speaking the Hyderabadi dialect was “so much fun.”
Tabu also credited director Puri Jagannadh for creating the distinctive character and thanked producer Charmme Kaur for helping bring the film’s world to life.
The glimpse introduces Gauri as the “devil in the department”, portraying her as ruthless, merciless and courageous. She is shown confronting criminals, engaging in physical fights and interrogating Vijay Sethupathi’s character. The video concludes with her introducing herself as “Gauri Hegde, Deputy Commissioner, Income Tax.”
Charmme Kaur praised Tabu’s portrayal in the comments, writing that she could not wait for audiences to see the actor’s power in the film.

Slum Dog: 33 Temple Road released its gritty teaser in June, offering glimpses into a mysterious world filled with action and emotion. The film marks Puri Jagannadh’s first collaboration with Vijay Sethupathi.
The teaser introduces Vijay Sethupathi as a mysterious blind beggar while raising questions about whether he is genuinely blind or hiding something more. The story also features action sequences and several character-driven moments without revealing the central mystery.
The film stars Samyuktha, Duniya Vijay Kumar, Brahmaji and VTV Ganesh alongside Tabu and Vijay Sethupathi. It has been produced by Puri Jagannadh and Charmme Kaur under Puri Connects, in association with JB Motion Pictures.
Production on the film has been completed and it is currently in the final stages of post-production. The makers have yet to announce its official release date.
