SEVENTEEN members Mingyu, Seungkwan and Dino are set to begin their mandatory military service later this year, with PLEDIS Entertainment confirming their enlistment dates on Monday, August 10.
According to the agency, Mingyu will begin his alternative military service on September 10. Seungkwan and Dino, meanwhile, will enlist together on October 26 as members of the Army’s military band. PLEDIS Entertainment announced the details through a notice on Weverse and asked fans to support the three members during their respective service periods.
“Seungkwan and Dino are scheduled to enlist as members of the military band in the Army on October 26,” the agency said, adding that both members will participate in all official SEVENTEEN activities scheduled before their enlistment.
Mingyu will begin his alternative service on September 10 and will similarly take part in all official group activities leading up to that date. PLEDIS clarified that no official event will be held on the day he begins his alternative service or when he later reports to the training centre.
The agency also urged fans not to visit the enlistment locations. In the case of Seungkwan and Dino, PLEDIS explained that many other enlistees and their families would be present at the ceremony. For Mingyu, fans were specifically asked not to visit the location of his alternative service.
Once the three members begin their respective service periods, they will be unable to participate in SEVENTEEN’s group activities. However, the members will continue to stay connected with CARAT through content that has been prepared in advance.
The announcement comes as SEVENTEEN enters another major phase of its mandatory military-service period. Vernon is scheduled to begin alternative service on August 20, while DK is set to enlist on September 8. With Mingyu, Seungkwan and Dino now having confirmed dates, five more members of the 13-member group will enter military service within a relatively short span.
PLEDIS had previously confirmed that SEVENTEEN is working towards a full 13-member reunion once all members complete their respective service periods.
Several members have already stepped away from group activities for military service. Jeonghan has completed his service, while Wonwoo, Woozi and Hoshi have also begun their respective service periods.
