An 81-year-old former schoolmate of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has requested a CBI probe into a decades-old property dispute in Maharashtra’s Mira-Bhayandar, alleging that builders associated with BJP MLA Narendra Mehta used forged documents to take control of his land.
Asgarali Vohra, who attended BN School in Gujarat’s Vadnagar with PM Modi, met the Prime Minister on September 8 and submitted a letter outlining his allegations.
Vohra claimed that he legally acquired around 2,810 square metres of land on Navghar Road in Bhayandar East through a registered agreement in 1989.
He said he never sold or transferred the property. However, according to his allegations, forged documents were created in 2011 in collaboration with Swayam Builders, after which the land was divided into two parts without his knowledge.
Vohra alleged that Swayam Builders was shown as possessing one portion, while the second portion was listed under Seven Eleven Constructions, a company linked to BJP MLA Narendra Mehta.
He also alleged that the Town Planning Department of the Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation approved construction on the disputed property despite his ownership claim. Vohra accused officials from the municipal corporation, Revenue Department and local police of failing to take action against those allegedly responsible for preparing the forged documents.
Vohra lodged an FIR over the alleged forgery in 2015, after which the case proceeded through the courts. However, he claimed that the CID submitted its report only in 2026, almost 11 years after the FIR was filed.
Questioning the prolonged delay, Vohra alleged that political pressure may have influenced the actions of officials. He further claimed that a counter-case was registered against him in 2025 without giving him prior notice or an opportunity to present his side.
After spending years approaching the police, revenue officials and municipal authorities, Vohra decided to seek PM Modi’s intervention. He has requested a CBI investigation into the property dispute and the alleged involvement of the builders and government officials.
Following his meeting with the Prime Minister, local municipal authorities took note of the matter. A hearing has been scheduled for September 16, with representatives of the companies involved instructed to appear.
