Actor Bipasha Basu has questioned the quality of a protein powder after alleging that she discovered tiny worms inside a freshly opened jar. In an Instagram Stories video, Bipasha tagged Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe and asked him to look into the matter.
“@tukaram_ias You are our only hope. So we dont get spoilt or adulterated stuff in everything that we purchase,” Bipasha wrote while tagging Mundhe.
In the video, Bipasha displayed what appeared to be a small worm on her finger. She said the Isopure protein powder was “full of small worms” and stressed that the jar had only recently been opened. She then showed the tiny worm to the camera, saying, “These are the worms, full of it.”
Bipasha’s complaint comes at a time when food safety in Maharashtra has been receiving increased public attention, with Mundhe spearheading inspections and action against food establishments across the state.

Maharashtra FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe has been conducting inspections at hotels, restaurants and other food establishments in Mumbai and other parts of the state. His campaign has included action over alleged adulteration and violations involving products including milk and paneer, with several establishments having their licences suspended.
His efforts have also drawn attention from Bollywood celebrities in recent days.
Actor Preity Zinta was recently spotted in Mumbai wearing a black T-shirt bearing the words ‘Team Tukaram Mundhe’. Her choice of clothing was viewed as a public expression of support for the official’s ongoing food safety campaign.
Twinkle Khanna has also spoken about the attention surrounding Mundhe’s inspections. In a social media post, the actor-turned-author questioned whether it had become unusual for a government official to simply carry out his duties that such work had turned into news.
With Bipasha Basu’s latest complaint, another Bollywood celebrity has now joined the growing discussion surrounding food safety and Mundhe’s efforts in Maharashtra.
