Maruti Suzuki has introduced a substantial mid-cycle update for the Baleno, with the refreshed premium hatchback starting at Rs 6.10 lakh (ex-showroom). The 2026 Baleno receives more than visual tweaks, with the facelift bringing a new three-cylinder petrol engine, additional cabin features and a significant upgrade in safety technology.
The biggest addition is Level 2 ADAS, which gives the Baleno a feature that is uncommon in the premium hatchback segment. The updated model also adopts a powertrain already used in some of Maruti Suzuki’s newer vehicles.
New engine for the Baleno
The refreshed Baleno is powered by a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. This is the same engine found in the Swift and Dzire and replaces the powertrain previously available in the Baleno.
The change aligns the hatchback with Maruti Suzuki’s latest engine strategy while retaining a naturally aspirated setup instead of introducing a turbocharged unit.
More equipment inside
The facelift also brings several new comfort and convenience features to the cabin. Among them is a wireless smartphone charging pad with cooling technology, designed to prevent devices from getting excessively hot during longer charging periods.
The car also receives a Clarion-branded audio system, while the front seats now feature ventilation. Maruti says ventilated front seats are being offered for the first time in this segment.
Baleno gets Level 2 ADAS
The most significant upgrade is the introduction of Level 2 ADAS. The technology offers several driver-assistance functions aimed at reducing driver workload and improving safety in everyday driving conditions.
The package includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, autonomous emergency braking and automatic high-beam assist, among other features. This makes the Baleno one of the more technology-packed models in the premium hatchback category.
Safety upgrades extend beyond ADAS. Six airbags are now standard across the range, while the updated model also gets ABS with EBS, a tyre-pressure monitoring system and hill-hold assist.
With prices beginning at Rs 6.10 lakh (ex-showroom), the 2026 Baleno facelift gives Maruti Suzuki a stronger presence in the premium hatchback segment by combining a new engine with a substantial increase in technology, comfort and safety features.
