Veteran actor Sudhir Dalvi received financial help from Ranbir Kapoor, Kartik Aaryan and Akshay Kumar after he was hospitalised with sepsis, his wife Suhas Dalvi has revealed. The actor, best known for playing Sai Baba in Shirdi Ke Sai Baba, was admitted in October 2025 after suffering life-threatening complications and later faced significant medical expenses.
In an interview with BollySpice, Suhas said that several people from the film industry stepped forward to support the family financially after news emerged that they were struggling to pay the hospital bills.
She recalled Kartik Aaryan, Ranbir Kapoor and Akshay Kumar among those who were among the first to offer assistance. She added that many others, both from the entertainment industry and outside it, also contributed. Since her husband is widely recognised for portraying Sai Baba, several devotees of Sai Baba also came forward to help. Suhas described the support and generosity shown during his illness as overwhelming.
Suhas revealed that Sudhir is now back home, although his recovery has been gradual. He still needs a walker to move around and remains mentally disoriented, but is happy to be home. She said she was relieved as well, adding that apart from the financial burden, being in a hospital can be an intimidating experience for patients.
She also revealed that the family requested the film association, which had been providing them with monthly financial assistance, to redirect the money towards someone else who might need it more. According to Suhas, Sudhir has received the medical treatment available to him and now needs prayers and support. She added that despite being elderly and suffering from asthma, she is doing her best to take care of both herself and her husband.
Sudhir Dalvi was admitted to Lilavati Hospital in October 2025 after an infection severely affected his joints and impaired his ability to move his limbs. He subsequently spent an extended period in the intensive care unit. His family reportedly spent close to Rs 10 lakh on his treatment, while doctors estimated that the total expenses could exceed Rs 15 lakh.
In December 2025, the Shree Saibaba Sansthan Trust received permission to provide financial assistance to the veteran actor and contributed Rs 11 lakh towards his medical treatment.
Sudhir Dalvi has spent more than three decades working in the film and television industry. He gained recognition for portraying Guru Vashishta in Ramanand Sagar’s 1987 television series Ramayan. He later became a household name after playing the titular role in the 1977 film Shirdi Ke Sai Baba.
Over the years, Dalvi has appeared in films such as Kranti, Satyamev Jayate, Khudgarz, Guru and Khal Nayak. His television credits include Chanakya, Jai Hanuman, Vishnu Puran, Buniyaad and Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.
