A minor disagreement over money at a snack shop in Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur turned into a violent street fight, with two groups attacking each other using sticks, bricks, bats and even a large spoon used to fry samosas. A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media.
The footage shows more than six people engaged in a fight in the middle of the road. Members of both groups can be seen hitting each other with lathis, while bricks and bats are also used in the clash.
During one particularly chaotic moment, a man appears to grab a large frying spoon from the snack shop and use it to attack others. Several bystanders, including women, attempt to intervene and break up the fight, but the two groups continue to assault each other.
The clash reportedly started following a dispute over money at the snack shop. Two people sustained injuries and were taken to a hospital for treatment.
After the video emerged on social media, police took note of the incident and began an investigation. Officials are analysing the footage to identify those involved in the street fight.
Pilkhuwa Circle Officer Munesh Chandra said two groups from the same community had clashed in Dehra village following a financial dispute. He said two injured people were hospitalised and police were using the viral video to identify those involved.
The officer added that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found responsible for disrupting public order.
The incident has drawn comparisons with the infamous ‘Battle of Baghpat’, in which a viral video showed shopkeepers from two rival chaat stalls in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, engaging in a fight. The groups were reportedly arguing over customers, with some participants seen carrying sticks and iron rods.
The video attracted widespread attention on social media, and one of the men involved, Harendra Singh, later became popularly known as ‘Einstein Chacha’.
