Actor and host Amitabh Bachchan revealed an unexpected family connection with Saif Ali Khan during the latest episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati, where Saif appeared alongside his Haiwaan co-star Akshay Kumar. In a promo for the upcoming episode, Bachchan tells Saif that few people are aware of his connection to the Bachchan family.
While seated on the hot seat of the Sony Entertainment Television quiz show, Saif appeared taken aback and asked, “Me?” Bachchan then clarified that although they are not related by blood, their families are connected through marriage involving the Kapoor and Nanda families.
Explaining the relationship, Bachchan said that Raj Kapoor’s daughter Ritu Nanda’s son Nikhil is married to his daughter Shweta. Shweta Bachchan married Nikhil Nanda, the son of Ritu Nanda, who was Raj Kapoor’s daughter.
Raj Kapoor was also Kareena Kapoor’s grandfather, making Nikhil Nanda and Kareena cousins. Since Saif Ali Khan is married to Kareena, he is therefore connected to the Bachchan family through marriage.
The revelation prompted a humorous exchange, with Bachchan wondering how the extended family should address one another. He jokingly asked, “So now I want to know how should I address Kareena? Kareena will call me what?”
The conversation added a light-hearted moment to the episode while highlighting the lesser-known link between the two prominent film families. Shweta Bachchan and Nikhil Nanda tied the knot in 1997 and have two children, daughter Navya Naveli Nanda and son Agastya Nanda.
Bachchan and Saif have also shared the screen in the past, appearing together in Eklavya: The Royal Guard (2007) and Aarakshan (2011).
Meanwhile, Saif and Akshay are set to appear together in director Priyadarshan’s upcoming psychological thriller Haiwaan. The film also stars Saiyami Kher, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Boman Irani, Sharib Hashmi, Jisshu Sengupta and Rajpal Yadav in important roles.
Haiwaan is scheduled to arrive in theatres on September 11, 2026.
