Tickets for early showing of Jailer 2 will start at 6 a.m. in the South and cost 1.6k

Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 is preparing for an early-morning box-office opening, with screenings expected to start as early as 6 am in parts of South India and premium tickets reportedly costing as much as Rs 1,600 in Bengaluru. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the film is scheduled for a worldwide release on October 15. Ticket prices across states have also attracted attention, particularly after Andhra Pradesh approved a temporary increase for the film’s first week in theatres.

While expensive multiplex tickets in Bengaluru have become a talking point, opening-day tickets across the city are reportedly averaging between Rs 800 and Rs 1,000. These premium rates reflect the demand for the Rajinikanth-starrer, although prices differ depending on the theatre, screening format and showtime. Jailer 2 screenings are expected to begin at 6 am in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, while Tamil Nadu’s first shows are currently scheduled for 8 am or 8.30 am.

Jailer 2: 6 am shows and premium ticket prices in Bengaluru

Early-morning screenings are among the major highlights of the film’s theatrical release. Booking listings in Bengaluru include shows starting shortly after 6 am, which are expected to attract fans eager to see Rajinikanth return as Muthuvel Pandian.

Ticket prices at some multiplexes in Bengaluru have reportedly climbed to Rs 1,600. However, this is not the standard price throughout the city, where opening-day tickets are said to cost an average of Rs 800 to Rs 1,000.

The steep prices have added to the excitement surrounding the sequel, although the final amount audiences pay will depend on their chosen theatre and screening.

Andhra Pradesh approves ticket price hike for Jailer 2

The Andhra Pradesh government has permitted a temporary increase in ticket prices for Jailer 2, allowing theatres to charge additional amounts during the film’s first seven days of release.

The revised prices will apply from October 15 to October 21, with theatres authorised to hold five screenings daily under the order. Single-screen cinemas can collect an additional Rs 50 per ticket, while multiplexes are allowed to charge Rs 75 extra. The reported revised prices amount to Rs 197.50 for single-screen tickets and Rs 252 for multiplex tickets.

The approval means moviegoers in Andhra Pradesh will pay more than the usual permitted rates during the opening week. The decision comes as the film prepares for a major release across the Telugu-speaking states and Tamil Nadu.

Telangana ticket prices range between Rs 295 and Rs 350

In neighbouring Telangana, tickets for Jailer 2 are reportedly priced between Rs 295 and Rs 350 at multiplexes. Bookings have opened at selected cinemas, with ticket availability differing by location.

Unlike Andhra Pradesh, where authorities have approved a specific temporary price increase, the rates currently listed in Telangana reflect the prices offered by theatres that have begun accepting bookings. More screenings and ticket categories could become available as the release date draws closer.

Tamil Nadu shows expected to begin at 8 am

In Rajinikanth’s home state of Tamil Nadu, the earliest screenings are expected to start at around 8 am or 8.30 am, later than the early-morning shows planned in some other southern states. Tickets are currently priced at approximately Rs 190.

There could also be concerns about tickets being resold at inflated prices, commonly known as black-market sales, given the expected demand for the superstar’s opening-day screenings. However, such resale prices would be separate from the officially listed ticket rates.

Jailer 2 set for October 15 release

Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Sun Pictures, Jailer 2 sees Rajinikanth reprise his role as Muthuvel Pandian after the success of the 2023 film. The sequel features Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu and Mirnaa, along with returning stars Mohanlal and Shivarajkumar. New additions to the cast include Vidya Balan, SJ Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty and Suraj Venjaramoodu.

With the film set to arrive in cinemas on October 15, its early-morning screenings and premium ticket prices are already generating considerable attention. The next few days will reveal how extensively shows are scheduled across South India and whether demand drives ticket sales even higher ahead of the release.
