In connection with a recent threat against actor Salman Khan that was received at the latter's office, the Mumbai Police detained a man from Rajasthan on Sunday.
A Bandra police team apprehended the suspect and is transporting him to Mumbai, according to PTI.
Dhakad Ram Bishnoi, the accused (21), resides in Siyagon ki Dhani, a village within Rohicha Kalan that is under the Luni police station in Jodhpur. In a matter involving the Weapons Act, he was on bail.
According to DCP (West) Gaurav Yadav of Jodhpur, Bishnoi was taken into custody on Sunday by a squad from the Bandra police station in Mumbai.
"They requested our help in placing Bishnoi in custody. We gave them the necessary assistance and turned over Bishnoi to the Mumbai Police "Yadav added, according to PTI.
Prashant Gunjalkar, who operates an artist management firm and, according to the police, routinely visits Salman Khan's apartment in Bandra, filed a complaint about the threat e-mail with the Bandra police station lately.
Recently, Gunjalkar discovered an email had come in from the ID "Rohit Garg" while he was in Khan's office at the Galaxy Apartment. "Goldy Bhai" (gangster Goldy Brar) wants to speak with Salman Khan face-to-face to resolve the issue, the sender of the Hindi-language email claimed, adding, "You'll see something astonishing."
A team was sent to Rajasthan and the man was apprehended after police received information about the accused's whereabouts following a thorough technical investigation into the case, a police official said.
The Mumbai Police filed an FIR against gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar after receiving the threat letter. Sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 506-II (criminal intimidation), and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Criminal Code were used to initiate the Complaint (IPC).
