Amritpal Singh was arrested. Amit Shah said THIS just a day earlier

Union Home Minister Amit Shah claimed on Saturday, just a day before Khalistani separatist Amritpal Singh surrendered and was detained in Punjab's Moga, "Earlier, he used to roam freely, but now he can't carry on with his activities." When asked why self-styled preacher Amritpal Singh hadn't been arrested yet, Amit Shah said.

The arrest of Amritpal Singh may occur at some point, according to Amit Shah, who was speaking at the India Today Karnataka Roundtable 2023. He was once able to move around without restriction, but not any longer.

Amit Shah responded, "There is no Khalistani wave in Punjab," when asked about Amritpal Singh and the movement. The government carries out its duties. We are keeping a close eye on the situation. India's sovereignty and unity are untouchable.

The top BJP official praised the national and Punjabi governments for their work.

Amritpal Singh, a wanted preacher, turned himself in on Sunday morning in Moga, Punjab, after being on the run for 37 days. Before giving himself up, Amritpal Singh spoke to a crowd at a Gurdwara in the Moga district village of Rode.

Punjab Police announced the arrest and advised people to keep the peace and stop spreading rumors.

"Amritpal Singh was detained in Punjab's Moga. Punjab Police will provide more information. Encourage residents to uphold peace and harmony. Never spread false information; always verify before spreading," the police said.

Amritpal Singh, according to the police, was given no choice but to turn himself up once the NSA warrant was obtained against him.

Jasveer Singh Rode, Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale's nephew, assisted in Amritpal Singh's surrender.

In Rode, the hometown of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, who was slain during Operation Blue Star, Amritpal Singh gave himself up.

Amritpal Singh is being sent to the Assamese prison of Dibrugarh after the Punjab Police used the severe National Security Act (NSA) on him. The extreme preacher and several of his friends are accused of inciting unrest, attempting to kill people, attacking police officers, and hindering the proper performance of their duties by public officials.

After his supporters stormed the Ajnala police station to gain the release of an arrested colleague, the Punjab Police started a large search operation to find Amritpal Singh.

His wife Kirandeep Kaur was denied boarding a trip to London on Thursday at the Amritsar airport by immigration officers. In February of this year, Amritpal Singh married Kaur, a non-resident Indian living in the UK.

Amritpal Singh already managed to evade the police dragnet twice: once on March 18 in the Jalandhar district by swapping vehicles, and once more on March 28 in Hoshiarpur when he returned to Punjab with his important ally Papalpreet Singh.
