India reports 11,109 fresh cases in the last 24 hours; active 49,622 cases



According to figures from the Union Health Ministry, India saw 11,109 new coronavirus infections on Friday, the most in 236 days, while the number of active cases rose to 49,622. 29 deaths have brought the total to 5,31,064 deaths. 

Delhi and Rajasthan each reported three deaths, while Chhattisgarh and Punjab reported two deaths apiece, while Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharastra, Odisha, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh each reported one death. Kerala also reconciled nine deaths.

The weekly positivity rate was estimated to be 4.29 percent, while the daily positivity rate was 5.01 percent. The total number of cases using Covid was 4.47 crore (4,47,97,269). According to the government, the national Covid-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.70%, and active cases currently make up 0.11 percent of all infections. 4,42,16,586 persons have recovered from the illness, and the case fatality rate has been reported at 1.19 percent.

In other headlines, Maharashtra reported more than 1,000 new Covid-19 cases for the second day in a row, with 1,086 new infections and one fatality reported in the previous 24 hours. 

The state had 1,115 instances as of Wednesday. With Thursday's figures, the state's total number of cases reached 81,53,377 and the death toll reached 1,48,471. Mumbai announced 274 brand-new cases.
