The Hollywood Bowl performance by Snoop Dogg has been postponed in solidarity with the ongoing writers' and actors' strike.
Using an Instagram post, the rapper made the announcement, writing, "We regret to inform you that due to the ongoing strike and the uncertainty of when this will be over, we need to cancel the Hollywood Bowl show."
Snoop Dogg had planned to have the event in June, but he postponed it to October because the Writers Guild of America said they would initiate a strike against Hollywood studios. Actors joined the writer's strike in the middle of July.
I don't understand how the f**k you get paid off of that stuff, so the streaming must get their s**t together, the rapper remarked. "I mean, tell me how you get a billion streams and don't earn a million dollars, please. That doesn't make sense to me at all. One plus one ain't adding up to two, so you need to tell us how the f**k to track this money down. I have no idea who the f**k is driving the streaming industry or if you're involved or not.
After the most recent round of contract negotiations came to a standstill, more than 11,000 writers have been on strike against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers since May. Following an unsuccessful attempt to reach a settlement with the AMPTP, over 160,000 performers and authors joined forces to strike in the middle of July. Actors and writers are on strike at the same time for the first time since 1960 during the 2023 WGA & SAG-AFTRA strike.
