In the Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, the local police executed an operation on Sunday resulting in the arrest of two individuals identified as overground workers (OGW) affiliated with the notorious terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). The apprehended suspects have been identified as Tawseef Ramazan Bhat and Moien Amin Bhat, also known as Momin. Both individuals hailed from Sheeri, Baramulla, according to the police authorities.
During the operation, law enforcement officials made noteworthy seizures. From Moien, they recovered a Chinese-made pistol along with a magazine, accompanied by a cache of 15 bullets. Tawseef, on the other hand, was found to be in possession of a hand grenade.
The operation was meticulously planned and executed through the collaborative efforts of the Special Operations Group and the Army. They established a joint checkpoint near the Shirkwara bus stop, strategically relying on actionable intelligence. The suspects came under scrutiny as they were observed walking from the direction of the Wagoora bridge, ultimately leading to their apprehension, as outlined by police sources.
Sensing the presence of security forces, the two individuals attempted to make a hasty escape from the scene, but the vigilant personnel of the alert checkpoint succeeded in intercepting and detaining them.
During the subsequent questioning and interrogation, Moien disclosed pertinent information to the police. He revealed his association with a foreign terrorist known as Usman and disclosed that he had provided medical treatment to Usman during a prior injury sustained during an operation. Moien further admitted to rendering logistical support to both Usman and another terrorist, Hilal Ahmed Sheikh, on multiple occasions, thereby substantiating his involvement with the LeT.
In summary, the police operation resulted in the recovery of a Chinese-manufactured pistol along with its magazine and ammunition from Moien, while Tawseef was found to be in possession of a hand grenade.
