Slamming the Opposition for "playing politics" over the security lapse in Parliament, Amit Shah

Delivering his first statement following Wednesday's Parliament security breach, Union Home Minister Amit Shah strongly criticized opposition parties, accusing them of engaging in political maneuvering over the incident. Amit Shah made these remarks during a session at Agenda Aaj Tak 2023, emphasizing the gravity of the security breach and expressing his dismay at the opposition's alleged exploitation of the situation for political gains.

During the Agenda AajTak 2023 session, Amit Shah asserted, "This incident is of a serious nature, and it is regrettable that the opposition is playing politics with it. While acknowledging the security lapse, it is important to note that Parliament security falls under the purview of the Speaker. The Speaker has already communicated with the Ministry of Home Affairs, and we have initiated an inquiry committee to investigate the matter. The findings of this committee will be promptly submitted to the Speaker."

Amit Shah assured that the primary focus of the committee is to thoroughly investigate the security breach incident and to explore ways to enhance security measures within the Lok Sabha. "While acknowledging the existence of loopholes, our responsibility is to address and rectify those gaps. I urge everyone not to turn this into a political issue," he added.

In the backdrop of a significant security breach on the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament terror attack, wherein two individuals infiltrated the Lok Sabha chamber, released colored smoke, and shouted slogans, Amit Shah underscored the severity of the situation. The intruders were swiftly subdued by Members of Parliament present in the chamber.

After the security breach, Parliament witnessed tumultuous scenes as Opposition MPs staged protests on Thursday, demanding a statement from Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the incident. In response to the uproar, fourteen Opposition MPs, comprising thirteen from Lok Sabha and one from Rajya Sabha, were suspended due to their alleged "unruly" conduct during parliamentary proceedings. The suspension underscores the heightened tensions and political ramifications stemming from the security breach, highlighting the need for a comprehensive and impartial investigation into the incident.
