According to sources reported by India Today, BJP MP Pratap Simha, the individual under whose name a visitor pass was issued to one of the individuals who entered the Lok Sabha chambers, engaged in a briefing with House Speaker Om Birla on Wednesday. Simha, it was revealed, had a meeting with the Speaker, during which he disclosed pertinent details about the accused individual.
In the briefing to Speaker Om Birla, Pratap Simha explained that the father of the accused, Sagar Sharma, resides in his constituency, Mysuru. Simha asserted that the visitor pass had been requested by Sagar Sharma's father to facilitate a visit to the new Parliament building. The BJP MP further conveyed that he maintained continuous communication with his personal assistant and office staff to ensure that Sagar Sharma's visit to Parliament proceeded smoothly. During the interaction with the Lok Sabha Speaker, Simha clarified that he possessed no additional information beyond what he had already shared.
The incident involving Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D., who leaped from the visitor's gallery into the Lok Sabha chambers carrying gas canisters, unfolded in a manner that caused alarm among parliamentarians. Before being apprehended by MPs inside the House, the duo managed to release yellow gas, contributing to the pandemonium.
Simultaneously, outside Parliament premises, two protesters—Anmol and Neelam—engaged in a demonstration carrying cans emitting yellow smoke. All four individuals involved in these incidents have been detained, although sources indicated to India Today that the conspiracy might involve a total of six people.
Following the revelation that Sagar Sharma entered the Lok Sabha using a visitor pass issued under Pratap Simha's name, Congress workers organized a protest outside Simha's office in Mysuru. Additionally, Congress took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, posting a picture of him alongside Pratap Simha on its official X account, insinuating infiltration into Parliament on the pass of the BJP MP.
It is customary for individuals seeking to visit Parliament to submit a request in the name of the Member of Parliament representing their constituency. MPs, in whose names the passes are issued, typically conduct a security check for visitor access, examining the identity cards provided by such visitors. Subsequently, visitors undergo rigorous security checks conducted by guards and electronic machines at the Parliament entrance.
Given that Sagar Sharma managed to acquire a visitor's pass in the name of BJP MP Pratap Simha, law enforcement authorities are conducting an investigation to determine the circumstances under which both detainees gained entry into the Parliament premises, accompanied by the release of colored smoke.
