The Goa Police announced on Thursday that a handwritten letter was discovered at the service apartment where Suchana Seth, the Bengaluru CEO accused of killing her four-year-old son, had stayed. The letter explicitly stated, "I cannot tolerate the court's order for my husband to meet my son." Authorities have sealed the letter and dispatched it to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for examination by a handwriting expert.
Earlier reports from sources revealed that Suchana Seth allegedly took the drastic step of ending her son's life to prevent her estranged husband from exercising his visitation rights with the child. The couple, who married in 2010 after meeting in Bengaluru, initiated divorce proceedings, which are still ongoing.
According to sources, Seth expressed dissatisfaction with a court order permitting her estranged husband to meet their son every Sunday. In 2022, she filed a domestic violence case against her husband, Venkat Raman, seeking maintenance of Rs 2.5 lakh per month, citing Raman's monthly income of Rs 9 lakh.
Recent revelations also disclosed that Suchana Seth had conveyed to friends and family that her son's resemblance to her husband served as a constant reminder of their strained relationship.
The chain of events leading to the uncovering of the alleged murder started when Venkat Raman, in adherence to the court order, expressed his desire to meet their son and requested Suchana to bring the child to his Bengaluru residence on a Sunday. However, Suchana declined and insisted on a meeting at a public location in the city.
When Suchana failed to show up, Raman waited at the designated place for over two hours, repeatedly attempting to contact her through calls, messages, and emails. Subsequently, Raman left for Indonesia for work.
On January 6, Suchana Seth checked into the 'Sol Banyan Grande' service apartment in North Goa with her son. Two days later, she checked out unaccompanied, requesting a taxi to Bengaluru despite being advised that a flight would be more cost-effective.
Suspicions arose among the apartment staff when they discovered bloodstains in the room occupied by Suchana. Additionally, they noted her departure alone, despite initially arriving with her son. The staff promptly alerted the police, leading to Suchana Seth's arrest in Karnataka's Chitradurga, where she was found carrying a bag containing her son's lifeless body.
