In preparation for the yearly Makaravilakku ceremony, Sabarimala

As the annual Makaravilakku festival commences, Sabarimala, a hill-shrine temple nestled in the verdant landscapes of Kerala, stands fully prepared for the grand event that unfolds. Devotees, who have congregated at this sacred hill-shrine temple, eagerly await the observance of Makara Jyothi, a celestial phenomenon that aligns with the auspicious occasion of Makara Sankramam or Makara Sankranthi.

Ensuring the seamless execution of the event, the Travancore Devaswom Board has meticulously organized all essential arrangements. Providing insights into the preparations, Travancore Devaswom Board President PS Prashant affirmed, "All facilities have been meticulously arranged at all ten designated points for the celestial illumination - Makara Jyothi darshan."

Devotees aspiring to witness the celestial event are earnestly advised by the Devaswom Board president to adhere closely to the guidelines issued by the police and fire force, ensuring a safe and harmonious experience for all attendees.

In addition to the customary 'Annadhanam' (food distribution), special provisions have been set in motion for the distribution of food to devotees on Sunday (January 14) and Monday. Board members estimate that approximately one lakh devotees will be beneficiaries of these arrangements, enhancing the overall experience of the festivity.

Contributing to the collective efforts, the Tamil Nadu Devaswom Board has generously provided around 80 lakh biscuits to be distributed among the eagerly awaiting devotees gathered to witness the spiritual radiance of Makara Jyothi.

Devotees will have the opportunity to partake in the divine darshan until January 20, with the temple eventually concluding its proceedings on January 21, marking the culmination of this sacred and vibrant festival.
