Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh conveyed a resolute stance in response to a recent security threat, articulating the state government's unwavering commitment during a statement issued after his hospital visit to evaluate the well-being of the state security personnel and Border Security Force (BSF) jawans who had suffered injuries in an ambush in Tengnoupal district.
After assessing the conditions of the injured personnel at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences in Moreh, Tengnoupal district, Chief Minister N Biren Singh, in a display of solidarity, engaged in conversations with the families of the affected individuals.
During a press interaction on the sidelines of his hospital visit, the Chief Minister expressed his deep regret regarding the unfortunate attack that occurred on Tuesday. He highlighted the utilization of sophisticated weaponry in the assault and informed the public that both state and Central forces had initiated comprehensive search and combing operations to address the situation.
Biren Singh underscored the seriousness of the matter by stating that reinforcements had been dispatched, and suspicions regarding the involvement of foreign nationals were being thoroughly investigated. Additionally, he acknowledged the existence of leaked videos from militant groups and assured collaborative efforts with Central and State forces to counteract them through ongoing search operations.
Emphasizing the government's steadfastness, Chief Minister Biren Singh reiterated that they would not yield to threats and pressure, assuring the public that all necessary measures would be taken. He also acknowledged the difficulty in confirming casualties on the opposing side at the moment and pointed towards the likely involvement of foreign machinery, specifically attributing the attack to the Kuki National Army (KNA-B) from the Myanmar side, particularly in the Moreh incident.
In a subsequent development on Tuesday, suspected militants targeted security forces, resulting in injuries to seven individuals in the international border town of Moreh. The tension in Moreh escalated with another incident, wherein four state police personnel and three BSF personnel sustained injuries as they were fired upon by suspected militants inside vehicles in Moreh Chawangfai ward no 7. Fortunately, the four state police personnel and one BSF jawan brought to the RIMS hospital are reported to be out of danger.
