In response to the upcoming consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, the Jharkhand government has announced a holiday for government schools on Monday. Additionally, government offices, establishments, and public sector banks in the state will remain closed until 2:30 pm, as per a notification from the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms. This decision, directed by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, aligns with the significance of the occasion.
The notification also revealed that several private schools in Jharkhand have independently declared a holiday on Monday. The state's BJP had earlier requested the government to declare January 22 as a state holiday in honor of the event.
Security measures have been heightened across Jharkhand in anticipation of the consecration ceremony. Additional forces, motorbike squads, and drone surveillance have been deployed in certain districts to ensure peace and harmony. In Ranchi, the capital city, 1,500 additional security personnel have been stationed by the police administration to maintain law and order. Temples throughout the state have been adorned with colorful flowers, lighting, flags, and posters in preparation for the event.
A state leader of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) mentioned that religious programs are scheduled to take place at "51,000 temples" in Jharkhand on Monday.
