On Saturday, the Congress officially announced the expulsion of Acharya Pramod Krishnam from the party, citing his 'anti-party remarks' as the reason for this decision.
In an official statement released by the party, it was stated that considering the persistent complaints of indiscipline and continual public criticism against the party, the Congress President has sanctioned the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee's proposal to expel Pramod Krishnam from the party for six years.
This announcement follows closely after Acharya Pramod Krishnam met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during which he extended an invitation to the Prime Minister for the foundation stone laying ceremony of Shri Kalki Dham in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal, scheduled for February 19.
Expressing gratitude on X after the meeting, Krishnam thanked Prime Minister Modi for accepting the invitation, underscoring the significance of the occasion associated with faith and devotion.
In recent times, Krishnam has openly criticized certain decisions made by the party leadership, particularly the high command's choice to abstain from participating in the 'Pran Pratishthan' ceremony of the Ram Mandir in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya on January 22.
Krishnam, who contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Lucknow on a Congress ticket albeit unsuccessfully, has been vocal about his discontent with the party's decisions.
