The Election Commission gave notice to Supriya Shrinate and Dilip Ghosh: References

The Election Commission has taken action against Congress leader Supriya Shrinate and BJP's Dilip Ghosh for their alleged controversial remarks against Kangana Ranaut and Mamata Banerjee, respectively.

According to sources, the Election Commission has issued a show-cause notice to both Shrinate and Ghosh for their "insulting, offensive, and derogatory remarks against the honor and dignity of women." They have been asked to respond to the notice by 5 pm on March 29.

Supriya Shrinate faced criticism over a derogatory social media post targeting BJP's Mandi Lok Sabha candidate Kangana Ranaut. Shrinate later clarified that the post was made by someone who had unauthorized access to her social media account, even as the BJP criticized her actions.

On the other hand, Dilip Ghosh, the former West Bengal BJP chief and current candidate for the Bardhaman-Durgapur Lok Sabha seat, came under scrutiny for mocking the family background of Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee.

In a video, Ghosh ridiculed Mamata Banerjee's claim of being the 'daughter of the state' and stated, "She should first decide who her father is."

The Election Commission's move demonstrates its commitment to upholding the dignity and respect of women in the political discourse, ensuring that derogatory remarks and offensive comments are addressed promptly.
