95 youngsters who were being forcibly transported from Uttar Pradesh to Bihar

The Uttar Pradesh Child Commission conducted a rescue operation on Friday, saving a total of 95 children who were reportedly being transported illegally from Bihar to Uttar Pradesh. According to Sarvesh Awasthi, the Chairperson of the Ayodhya Child Welfare Committee, the commission received information from UP Child Commission member Suchitra Chaturvedi about the illegal transportation of children from Bihar to Saharanpur via Gorakhpur and Ayodhya. Acting on this information, the children were rescued in Ayodhya and provided with food and medical assistance.

The rescued children, aged between 4 and 12 years, were found to have been transported without consent letters from their parents. Many of them expressed unawareness about their destination. Sarvesh Awasthi confirmed that efforts were underway to contact the parents, and once they arrive, the children will be handed over to them. In total, 95 children were rescued in the operation.

Prior to this incident, another group of children from Bihar, who were being sent to madrasas in various states, were rescued by the Uttar Pradesh State Child Commission in Gorakhpur. This rescue operation was conducted under the directives of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR).

Priyank Kanoongo, Chairperson of NCPCR, highlighted the importance of education for every child as mandated by the Indian Constitution. He emphasized that sending children to madrasas in other states without their consent and for the purpose of earning donations based on religion is a violation of constitutional rights.
