A "spy" YouTuber acknowledges using encrypted applications and contacting Pakistani agents: Sources

Haryana-based YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, who operates the channel "Travel with Jo" with nearly 4 lakh subscribers, has allegedly confessed to having links with Pakistani intelligence operatives, according to interrogation records accessed by India Today.

Key Details from the Investigation:

  • Initial Contact: Jyoti reportedly first met Danish, also known as Ehsar Dar, a Pakistani High Commission official in New Delhi in 2023 while applying for a visa to travel to Pakistan.

  • Diplomatic Expulsion: Danish was among the Pakistani diplomats expelled by India on May 13, shortly after the Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 people.

  • Trip to Pakistan: During her visit, she met Ali Hassan, Danish’s associate, who facilitated her travel and stay in Pakistan.

  • Intel Contacts: Ali Hassan allegedly introduced her to two suspected Pakistani intelligence agents — Shakir and Rana Shahbaz.

    • She is said to have saved Shakir’s number in her phone under the alias "Jatt Radhawa" to evade detection.

  • Continued Communication: After returning to India, Jyoti kept in touch with these operatives using encrypted apps such as WhatsApp, Snapchat, and Telegram.

Significance:

This case is raising serious national security concerns, particularly due to the nature of her contacts with expelled diplomats and Pakistani intelligence. Investigators are now probing the extent of information shared and whether she received any monetary compensation or was involved in espionage.

There has been no official statement yet from Jyoti Malhotra or her legal team, and the probe is ongoing.
