According to the J&K Students Association, 700 Kashmiri students are still stranded in Iran as a result of Operation Sindhu

Over 700 Kashmiri students remain stranded in different parts of Iran, including Tehran, Kerman, Gilan, Shiraz, and Arak, according to a statement issued by the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association on Friday. The association said they are actively working with the Ministry of External Affairs, the Indian Embassy in Tehran, and the J&K Chief Minister’s Office to ensure the students’ safety and evacuation.

These students are part of a larger group of Indian nationals being brought back under Operation Sindhu, an ongoing evacuation initiative launched by India. While some students have already been relocated, many are still in areas considered risky due to the regional conflict. The association noted that evacuation efforts are focused on first moving students to safer locations before transporting them via Mashhad and other secure border routes.

Two Kashmiri students who were injured have been shifted to safer areas, and their evacuation is expected within the next two days. The association reassured families that all students are currently safe and urged them to remain calm.

Iran has also extended its cooperation. Mohammad Javad Hosseini, the deputy chief of mission at the Iranian embassy, said that although Iranian airspace is generally closed due to the ongoing conflict, special arrangements are being made to allow Indian flights to operate for evacuation purposes.

As a result of these coordinated efforts, nearly 1,000 Indian students have already returned home, with flights landing in Delhi on Friday night and Saturday. The situation continues to be monitored closely, with both Indian and Iranian authorities working together to ensure the safety of the remaining students.
