Passengers on two Air India Express flights—one from Bengaluru and the other from Chennai—faced chaos at Patna airport on Saturday morning after they discovered their checked-in luggage had not arrived with them. Both flights landed around the same time, and an announcement was initially made regarding the conveyor belt from where passengers could collect their baggage. But when they reached the belt, their luggage was nowhere to be found.
Air India Express officials later informed the frustrated passengers that the baggage had not been loaded onto the flights due to excess weight. This revelation triggered anger among the travelers, leading to a noisy protest at the terminal. Ground staff, along with Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel, were seen trying to pacify the passengers and restore order.
This marks the second such incident in the last 15 days where passengers on Air India Express flights faced delays in receiving their luggage. Many passengers expressed helplessness and frustration, especially those with urgent commitments. One traveler shared that he had flown to Patna to attend a wedding and now had nothing appropriate to wear. Others who had to board connecting flights were left scrambling, worried about missed connections and delayed schedules.
Despite repeated questions, the airline staff reportedly failed to provide a clear timeline for when the luggage would be delivered. The scene at the airport remained tense, with several passengers visibly distressed over the lack of accountability and inconvenience caused.
