Chitrangda Singh has officially joined the cast of Salman Khan’s highly anticipated film Battle of Galwan, marking her debut in a Salman Khan-led project. In an exclusive conversation with India Today, the actress shared why this film holds special meaning for her — not only as an actor but also personally, given her upbringing in an army family. Her father is a retired colonel, and growing up with stories of valour, discipline, and patriotism has made this project deeply resonant.
Chitrangda recalled a significant, chance meeting with Salman Khan on a Mumbai studio set, long before the film came to her. “We happened to cross paths and ended up chatting about our respective projects. During that brief but meaningful conversation, he encouraged me to explore more commercial and challenging roles,” she said. That conversation, she added, became a pivotal moment in shaping her outlook: “Sometimes, all it takes is a moment like that to shift your perspective.”
This emotional connection, coupled with the encouragement from Salman, gave her the courage to take on her “grounded, intense” role in Battle of Galwan — a film that portrays one of the most harrowing yet bulletless confrontations in India’s military history.
The film’s first schedule is set to begin soon, and Salman Khan has already begun intensive physical preparation. He’s reportedly training rigorously to lose weight and build muscle mass for the role, ensuring he embodies the strength and stamina required for such a physically and emotionally demanding narrative.
Salman unveiled the powerful first-look poster on July 4. In it, he appears bloodied but unbroken, sporting a fierce moustache and the kind of patriotic intensity that hints at a stirring cinematic experience. Directed by Vishnu Vardhan and backed by his own banner Salman Khan Films, Battle of Galwan aims to dramatize the tension, resilience, and heroism of Indian soldiers in one of the most iconic border standoffs in recent history — fought without firing a single shot.
With Chitrangda’s grounded elegance and Salman’s commanding screen presence, Battle of Galwan is shaping up to be not just a war drama, but a tribute to the spirit of India's armed forces.
